Description guillaume 2006-01-04 00:18:16 UTC
I installed ndiswrapper 1.7 with a new 2.6.14 kernel (due to compilation issue between ndiswrapper 1.2 and kernel 2.6.14)
However, the box is freezing within the first 5 minutes after using network. (heavy network load seems to accelerate the freezing process)
I cannot ssh the box from another computer, the only answer is to hard shutdown the machine.

I am not in front of my box and i will post emerge info this evening
Comment 1 Stefan Schweizer (RETIRED) gentoo-dev 2006-01-04 02:55:49 UTC
Does it work with kernel 2.6.15?
Comment 2 guillaume 2006-01-04 03:44:13 UTC
I only tried with 2.6.13-gentoo-r3, 2.6.14-gentoo and 2.6.14-ck7
Do you think i should test with 2.6.15 ?

my emerge --info (classical except maybe SMP) :

gentoo-sources-2.6.15 is already in the tree but it is not tested for ~x86 yet. (I am doing that atm).

Comment 7 guillaume 2006-01-05 13:35:41 UTC
I just tried 2.6.15-ck1
Everything is running fine after mass network 10 min test.
I will let the box run this night and let you know tomorrow morning.
Comment 8 guillaume 2006-01-05 14:04:23 UTC
sorry, the box has frozen within 20 min.
I came back to ndiswrapper 1.2
Comment 9 Petteri Räty (RETIRED) gentoo-dev 2006-01-05 15:44:39 UTC

Well when I post a comment like that it means that I just added it to CVS. This means that it will be available to you in an hour or two with emerge sync.

Comment 12 guillaume 2006-01-07 03:35:34 UTC
it is working fine with ndiswrapper-1.2-r1
does it help to deliver a working 1.7 ?
Comment 13 Petteri Räty (RETIRED) gentoo-dev 2006-01-07 08:18:03 UTC
I should have remembered to mention this in the first place but this is an upstream issue any way and you should report it to the upstream developers. Good to hear that 1.2-r1 works for you. I will most likely be marking it stable. I kept this bug open this long because I was considering 1.7 going stable in bug #111029. Let's hope the next upstream release works better for you.
