Description david cooper 2005-12-31 15:17:48 UTC
This bug is being created after I have finished the build. Someone on the forums recommended I open a bug. The essence is that when 'ati-drivers' are merged and the command 'opengl-update ati' is issued, the file /usr/lib/libGL.la becomes a zero-byte file. In fact, all traces of this file (except x11) on the system are zero bytes. A few of my packages (MythTv install) failed on compile because of an invalid libGL.la. One of the packages was xine-ui. To work around the problem, i found a hit on the Internet that suggested 'opengl-update xorg-x11', which copied the x11 version of libGL.la, and the programs finished compiling. After the packages were installed, I issued 'opengl-update ati', but I am unsure if this work around will have any detriments.

Versions:

ati-drivers / extra 8.20.8
Gentoo 2005.1-r1
Kernel 2.6.13r5
xine-ui 0.99.3-r1
X11 6.8.2-r6
