After upgrading to XFCE 4.2.3.2 the "Move window to workspace <#>" feature no longer works, found in Settings > Window Manager > Keyboard > Window shortcuts. I use Mod4+a for selecting workspace 1, Mod4+s for selecting workspace 2, Mod4+d for 3, and Mod4+f for 4. So I know Mod4 key (Windows key) works. For moving windows to workspace I use Mod4+z for moving to 1, Mod4+x for moving to 2, Mod4+c for moving to 3, and Mod4+v for moving to 4. These last 4 stopped working. I set these keys to other key combinations without any luck. Reproducible: Always Steps to Reproduce: 1. Open Settings dialog 2. Select "Window Manager" 3. Select "Keyboard" tab on the "Window Manager" dialog 4. Add a new profile 5. Change "Move window to workspace <#>" keys to some key combination know, unless you know what Alt+Control+KP_# is (I don't) 6. Try using the key combination to move any window to another workspace Actual Results: No windows were moved to selected workspace. Expected Results: Should have moved the currently active window to the specified workspace. I am running the latest XFCE4, 4.2.3.2. This feature worked prior to the upgrade. # emerge info Portage 2.0.53 (default-linux/x86/2005.0, gcc-3.4.4, glibc-2.3.5-r3, 2.6.14-gentoo-r4 i686) ================================================================= System uname: 2.6.14-gentoo-r4 i686 AMD Athlon(tm) XP 2600+ Gentoo Base System version 1.12.0_pre11 distcc 2.18.3 i686-pc-linux-gnu (protocols 1 and 2) (default port 3632) [disabled] dev-lang/python: 2.3.5-r2, 2.4.2 sys-apps/sandbox: 1.2.16 sys-devel/autoconf: 2.13, 2.59-r7 sys-devel/automake: 1.4_p6, 1.5, 1.6.3, 1.7.9-r1, 1.8.5-r3, 1.9.6-r1 sys-devel/binutils: 2.16.1-r1 sys-devel/libtool: 1.5.20-r1 virtual/os-headers: 2.6.11-r3 ACCEPT_KEYWORDS="x86 ~x86" AUTOCLEAN="yes" CBUILD="i686-pc-linux-gnu" CFLAGS="-O2 -march=athlon-xp -pipe -fomit-frame-pointer" CHOST="i686-pc-linux-gnu" CONFIG_PROTECT="/etc /usr/kde/2/share/config /usr/kde/3.3/env /usr/kde/3.3/share/config /usr/kde/3.3/shutdown /usr/kde/3.4/env /usr/kde/3.4/share/config /usr/kde/3.4/shutdown /usr/kde/3.5/env /usr/kde/3.5/share/config /usr/kde/3.5/shutdown /usr/kde/3/share/config /usr/lib/X11/xkb /usr/share/config /var/bind /var/qmail/control" CONFIG_PROTECT_MASK="/etc/gconf /etc/terminfo /etc/env.d" CXXFLAGS="-O2 -march=athlon-xp -pipe -fomit-frame-pointer" DISTDIR="/usr/portage/distfiles" FEATURES="autoconfig distlocks sandbox sfperms strict" GENTOO_MIRRORS="http://gentoo.chem.wisc.edu/gentoo http://adelie.polymtl.ca" MAKEOPTS="-j2" PKGDIR="/usr/portage/packages" PORTAGE_TMPDIR="/var/tmp" PORTDIR="/usr/portage" PORTDIR_OVERLAY="/usr/local/portage" SYNC="rsync://rsync.gentoo.org/gentoo-portage" USE="x86 X a52 aac aalib alsa apache2 arts audiofile avi bitmap-fonts browserplugin bzip2 cdparanoia cdr crypt cups curl directfb divx4linux djbfft doc dts dv dvd dvdread encode esd exif expat fam ffmpeg flac foomaticdb fpx gdbm gif gimpprint glut gnutls gphoto2 gstreamer gtk gtk2 gtkhtml hpn i8x0 idn imagemagick imlib ipv6 java jikes jpeg junit lcms libcaca libg++ libwww live lzo mad matroska mikmod mmx mmxext mng motif mp3 mpeg mythtv ncurses network nls nptl nptlonly nsplugin offensive ogg oggvorbis openal opengl oss pam pcre pdflib perl png ppds prelude python quicktime readline real recode rtc samba sdl sensord slang sndfile source spell ssl svg svga tcltk tcpd tga theora threads tiff truetype truetype-fonts type1-fonts udev unicode usb userlocales vcd vorbis win32codecs wmf wxgtk wxgtk1 wxwindows xanim xine xml2 xmms xprint xv xvid xvmc zlib userland_GNU kernel_linux elibc_glibc" Unset: ASFLAGS, CTARGET, LANG, LC_ALL, LDFLAGS, LINGUAS
the standard alt+cntrl+KP_1.... works here I need to test modifying them
I just tried the default on fairly fresh install of ~x86, and it still doesn't work for me.
Confirmed. I'm using Ctrl+Shift+F# All arbituary key combinations I've tried will not work, including single keystrokes (1, k, etc). However, the key itself will stop working, so it seems that the event is being intercepted correctly, but not acted on.
I can confirm this, and apparently this bug has been fixed upstream, see: http://bugzilla.xfce.org/show_bug.cgi?id=1257 I'll attach a new ebuild and a patch to fix this.
Created attachment 98597 [details] new ebuild to use the patch
Created attachment 98598 [details, diff] Patch to fix the "move app to workspace via shortcut" bug
This bug is now fixed in xfwm4-4.2.3.2-r1. Thanks Michael. Arch teams, please test and mark stable xfwm4-4.2.3.2-r1
-r1 also sorts virtual/x11 *rap for bug 153225
x86 stable
amd64 stable
Stable on hppa.
ppc64 stable
Stable on ppc
sparc did 4.4.0 so gone from here.
Handled in bug 169987
