After updating hal (to 0.5.4) and dbus (to 0.36.2), both do not start after a reboot. It complains about a missing socket system_bus_socket. Reproducible: Didn't try Steps to Reproduce: 1.emerge hal-0.5.4 and dbus-0.36.2 2.reboot 3.watch dbus fail to start Actual Results: dbus is unable to access /var/dbus/dbus/system_bus_socket. Reemerging both hal and dbus (probably not needed) and changing the line <listen>unix:path=/var/dbus/dbus/system_bus_socket</listen> to <listen>unix:path=/var/lib/dbus/system_bus_socket</listen> allowed me to restart hal and dbus. Now the missing socket is in that dir. Expected Results: No errors in boot Portage 2.0.51.22-r3 (default-linux/x86/2005.0, gcc-3.4.4, glibc-2.3.5-r2, 2.6.14-gentoo-r2 i686) ================================================================= System uname: 2.6.14-gentoo-r2 i686 AMD Athlon(tm) XP 1700+ Gentoo Base System version 1.6.13 dev-lang/python: 2.2.3-r5, 2.3.5-r2, 2.4.2 sys-apps/sandbox: 1.2.12 sys-devel/autoconf: 2.13, 2.59-r6 sys-devel/automake: 1.4_p6, 1.5, 1.6.3, 1.7.9-r1, 1.8.5-r3, 1.9.6-r1 sys-devel/binutils: 2.16.1 sys-devel/libtool: 1.5.20 virtual/os-headers: 2.6.8.1-r1, 2.6.11-r2 ACCEPT_KEYWORDS="x86" AUTOCLEAN="yes" CBUILD="i686-pc-linux-gnu" CFLAGS="-mtune=athlon-xp -march=athlon-xp -O2 -pipe -fomit-frame-pointer -ffast-math -ftracer -finline-functions -fprefetch-loop-arrays -fstrict-aliasing" CHOST="i686-pc-linux-gnu" CONFIG_PROTECT="/etc /usr/kde/2/share/config /usr/kde/3/share/config /usr/lib/X11/xkb /usr/lib/mozilla/defaults/pref /usr/share/config /var/qmail/control" CONFIG_PROTECT_MASK="/etc/gconf /etc/terminfo /etc/env.d" CXXFLAGS="-mtune=athlon-xp -march=athlon-xp -O2 -pipe -fomit-frame-pointer -ffast-math -ftracer -finline-functions -fprefetch-loop-arrays -fstrict-aliasing" DISTDIR="/usr/portage/distfiles" FEATURES="autoconfig distlocks sandbox sfperms strict" GENTOO_MIRRORS="ftp://ftp.tu-clausthal.de/pub/linux/gentoo/ http://www.ibiblio.org/gentoo ftp://gentoo.mirrors.pair.com/" LANG="de_DE.UTF-8" LC_ALL="de_DE.UTF-8" PKGDIR="/usr/portage/packages" PORTAGE_TMPDIR="/var/tmp" PORTDIR="/usr/portage" PORTDIR_OVERLAY="/usr/local/portage" SYNC="rsync://rsync.europe.gentoo.org/gentoo-portage" USE="x86 3dnow X alsa apm avi bonobo cdr cups dbus dga divx4linux dvd encode erandom ffmpeg gif gimpprint gnome gstreamer gtk gtk2 hal jpeg matroska mmx mp3 mpeg4 mplayer nls nptl nvidia ogg oggvorbis opengl oss pam pda png ppds python samba sdl spell sse ssl transcode truetype truetype-fonts unicode usb vorbis wxwindows xine userland_GNU kernel_linux elibc_glibc" Unset: ASFLAGS, CTARGET, LDFLAGS, LINGUAS, MAKEOPTS
