Description MAL 2005-11-28 09:29:05 UTC
Could someone add the Task::Catalyst perl module to portage?

Thanks

Reproducible: Always
Steps to Reproduce:
Comment 1 Jakub Moc (RETIRED) gentoo-dev 2005-11-28 09:31:56 UTC
Why? app-portage/g-cpan does not work? Something depends on it?
Comment 2 Michael Cummings (RETIRED) gentoo-dev 2005-11-28 09:46:06 UTC
What Jakub is getting at is there are guidelines in the gentoo policy
documentation regarding requests for perl module ebuilds.
Comment 3 MAL 2005-11-28 11:01:01 UTC
Apologies. I had already installed it via cpan but I was under the impression
that this wasn't the way to do things, assuming cpan installed modules wouldn't
get updated automatically via portage.
Comment 4 MAL 2005-11-28 11:03:14 UTC
Just a small question... why are there still numerous perl modules in portage if
this tool exists? Are they pending deletion, or are they considered more
fundamental?
Comment 5 Jakub Moc (RETIRED) gentoo-dev 2005-11-28 11:06:19 UTC
Please, review this link and explain why this ebuild is needed in portage:

http://www.gentoo.org/proj/en/devrel/handbook/handbook.xml?part=3&chap=1#doc_chap2

It also answers your question.
Comment 6 MAL 2005-11-28 12:25:25 UTC
Thanks for the link. It doesn't need to be in portage, which is why I didn't
reopen the bug.

Cheers
