Description Robert Dodier 2005-11-16 10:30:49 UTC
Hello. I've been informed by a Gentoo user that the Gentoo build yields a
compressed info file (namely maxima.info.gz and files with related names
maxima.info-{1,2,3...}.gz). However, Maxima knows how to read only uncompressed
info files. I recommend that the Gentoo build be modified so that info files are
not compressed.

Background: info files are created from texinfo sources. The Maxima help system
reads maxima.info-* to get help text. Maxima is a program for symbolic
computation. http://sourceforge.net/projects/maxima/

Reproducible: Always
Steps to Reproduce:
1.
2.
3.

Actual Results:
Maxima complains "can't find info file" or some such.

Expected Results:
Should have displayed help text.

This issue is fixed in the maxima-5.9.3 overlay ebuild (bug #112754).

Should be fixed with sci-mathematics/maxima-5.9.3 I just committed to the tree - please reopen if not. Thanks to you both for your work on this issue.
