Description Clock 2005-11-16 01:35:47 UTC
When XMMS is configured for esd output, the whole spectral analysis is pulsating
with a frequency about 4Hz. That means 4x in a second all the spectral lines drop
down to zero and then restore back. It's a very annoying effect.

When I switch XMMS to Alsa output, it displays the spectrum correctly. I have
checked this on the same mp3 and am sure it's not anything that is in the mp3.

It looks like XMMS makes the analysis over a bigger portion of a buffer
than should, and the rest is filled with zeros, and the window of the spectral
analyzer slides over the audio data and zero gaps periodically, fading the
signal in and out.

Maybe it's a bug of XMMS, maybe XMMS is somehow incorrectly compiled with
ESD and it's a bug of gentoo. I don't know, so I am posting the bug here.

hmm looks like a esd bug. You mean this is a Gentoo bug why you said that ?
