OK now quickpkg is giving me headaches. not a single package had been quickpkg'd properly, and this is probably what screwed my Gnome and KDE installs (although other packages failed, these are the only ones I gave a crap about). I don't know why it's trying to quickpkg everything, even the packages that I typed in on the extra packages screen. I don't even know what quickpkg is, but if it is what I think it is, then I'd rather just download the packages off the net and endure huge compile times and call it a day. Reproducible: Always Steps to Reproduce: 1.Install any packages that install durring the "Installing Additional Packages" screen 2. Read the errors. "DEBUG:Package project-starfighter could not be quickpkg'd. This may be an error in the future." 3. Every package does this, including X and gnome. Expected Results: I expected "emerge x" or "emerge kde" or "emerge project- starfighter." Not "Package project-starfighter could not be quickpkg'd."
I'm going to take a stab at this and say that you selected "GRP install" and then selected 'sync' or 'webrsync' for your Portage tree option.
Nope, I didn't use GRP install, but I did use a portage snapshot from some open source server something, which is the same place I got my stage 3 install.
Those messages don't really hurt anything. While it is probably a "bug", that code will soon be torn apart and rewritten. Thanks for the report, though.
Whew, to think for a second that I was about to restart the whole thing. Thanks.
Thanks guys.
Moving to Release Media/Installer.
