Description Alex Weiss 2005-11-13 03:45:14 UTC
When I tried to do an emerge -uDp world this morning, I got the following
error:

Calculating world dependencies \
!!! All ebuilds that could satisfy "~media-sound/alsa-headers-1.0.10_rc2" have
been masked.
!!! One of the following masked packages is required to complete your request:
- media-sound/alsa-headers-1.0.10_rc2 (masked by: ~x86 keyword)

For more information, see MASKED PACKAGES section in the emerge man page or
section 2.2 "Software Availability" in the Gentoo Handbook.
!!! (dependency required by "media-sound/alsa-driver-1.0.10_rc2" [ebuild])

!!! Problem with ebuild media-sound/alsa-utils-1.0.9a
!!! Possibly a DEPEND/*DEPEND problem.

!!! Depgraph creation failed.

When I added alsa-headers ~x86 to the package.keywords file, portage then
wanted to emerge the following packages which cannot be right.

[ebuild U ] media-sound/alsa-headers-1.0.10_rc3 [1.0.9b]
[ebuild U ] media-sound/alsa-headers-1.0.10_rc2 [1.0.9b]
[ebuild U ] media-sound/alsa-driver-1.0.10_rc2 [1.0.9b]

Note how it wants to emerge two versions of alsa-headers.

Reproducible: Always
Steps to Reproduce:
1.emerge -uDp world
2.
3.

Actual Results:
See details

Expected Results:
The new version of alsa-headers and alsa-driver should have been installed.
