Description Patrick Green 2005-10-31 02:21:02 UTC
When I download the Pentium 4 GRP Package, the download completes without a
hitch however the md5sum value of the iso does not match the md5sum checksum file.

Reproducible: Always
Steps to Reproduce:
1.Download the .iso (Bit Torrent Only) the .md5 checksum command md5sum -c packages-pentium4-2005.1.iso.md5

Actual Results:
packages-pentium4-2005.1.iso.md5: FAILED
md5sum WARNING: 1 0f 1 domputed checksum did not match

Expected Results:
packages-pentium4-2005.1.iso.md5: SUCCESS

What is the contents of the .md5 file?
Comment 2 Patrick Green 2005-11-03 12:30:15 UTC
(In reply to comment #1)
The .md5 file contains a checksum for the .iso.
Comment 3 Chris Gianelloni (RETIRED) gentoo-dev 2005-11-03 13:10:28 UTC

Yes, I understand this. I want to know the *exact* contents of the file.

Patrick, please tell me that your reply was a joke. *Please* tell me that, even
if you have to lie to me.

Comment 6 Patrick Green 2005-11-03 13:22:35 UTC
Yes, it was a joke. I've attached the file but the contents are:

dc9d1b813e9abc94161e707f831d77fd packages-pentium4-2005.1.iso.md5

anything else?
Comment 7 Chris Gianelloni (RETIRED) gentoo-dev 2005-11-03 13:48:47 UTC
Interesting... the MD5 *should* be: 29a1c12e845b340eb10ff864333ef6c5

See if your ISO matches 29a1c12e845b340eb10ff864333ef6c5 and if it does, then
the MD5 on the site is incorrect and I'll have them fix the site.
Comment 8 Patrick Green 2005-11-03 13:56:01 UTC
hmm... that can't be good...

the md5sum of the .iso still does not match that number. instead it shows:

wolf31o2@poseidon /release/2005.1/bittorrent/x86/packagecd/pentium4 $ md5sum
29a1c12e845b340eb10ff864333ef6c5 packages-pentium4-2005.1.iso

wolf31o2@cgianelloni ~/Desktop $ md5sum packages-pentium4-2005.1.iso
29a1c12e845b340eb10ff864333ef6c5 packages-pentium4-2005.1.iso

wolf31o2@cgianelloni ~/Desktop $ cat packages-pentium4-2005.1.iso.md5
dc9d1b813e9abc94161e707f831d77fd packages-pentium4-2005.1.iso.md5

OK... I just downloaded the thing. The md5 on the site is incorrect. However,
the ISO is correct. I would suggest just redownloading it. I'll have them
correct the MD5 on the site.

stkn: it looks like the pentium4 packagecd md5 is incorrect on the tracker.
Could you please redownload it from
/release/2005.1/bittorrent/x86/packagecd/pentium4 on poseidon? If you have any
questions, feel free to contact me.

Marking this as CANTFIX since 2005.1 is no longer available via bittorrent...
