Comment 4 John N. Laliberte (RETIRED) gentoo-dev 2005-10-11 07:16:53 UTC
did you just upgrade to python 2.4?

what does python -V say?

Please include your emerge info.

Thanks!
Comment 5 Mirko Hufnagel 2005-10-11 07:22:28 UTC
python -V
Python 2.4.2 is installed

emerge -V

Comment 6 Martin Bundgaard 2005-10-11 08:17:22 UTC
I have the same setup as you - and had the same problem.

Re-emerging dev-python/pyxml solved the problem. I cannot tell you why exactly,
but I remember python has been upgraded recently, so my guess is that pyxml
should be, but was not, recompiled upon upgrading python.
Comment 7 Daniel Gryniewicz (RETIRED) gentoo-dev 2005-10-11 08:54:08 UTC
python-updater needs to be run when doing python updates
Comment 8 Mirko Hufnagel 2005-10-11 23:35:53 UTC
Re-emerging dev-python/pyxml solved the problem also on my pc.

Python-updater don't solve the problem. Don't know why.
Comment 9 Sumit Khanna 2005-10-12 04:22:21 UTC
I added Gnome 2.12 to my /etc/portage/package.unmask and I ran into the same
problem. I re-emerged dev-python/pyxml and it compiled fine
Comment 10 Steve Herber 2005-10-15 11:06:31 UTC
This bug report helped me to get past this problem. Re-emergin
dev-python/pyxml-0.8.4 fixed the problem.

Closing, running python-updater is needed after upgrading python. Not a bug.
