System time goes faster - the difference can be up to 30 secs in minute. When the load is low, the time speed is normal. When the load is higher then the time speed is chaotic and always faster. I have two identical motherboards Asus A8N-E, the difference is processor AMD64 X2 versus AMD64 and disks SATA versus IDE. System is configured and compiled without power management. Time on the AMD64-X2-SATA is chaotic, time on the AMD64-IDE goes normaly. Kernel is compiled without power management: CONFIG_PM=y # CONFIG_PM_DEBUG is not set # CONFIG_SOFTWARE_SUSPEND is not set # CONFIG_ACPI is not set # CONFIG_CPU_FREQ is not set Although the kernel is compiled without power management i found in boot messages this (i guess it relates to power management): Jul 18 15:29:10 server3 ACPI: RSDP (v000 Nvidia ) @ 0x00000000000f76f0 Jul 18 15:29:10 server3 ACPI: RSDT (v001 Nvidia AWRDACPI 0x42302e31 AWRD 0x00000000) @ 0x000000003fff3040 Jul 18 15:29:10 server3 ACPI: FADT (v001 Nvidia AWRDACPI 0x42302e31 AWRD 0x00000000) @ 0x000000003fff30c0 Jul 18 15:29:10 server3 ACPI: SRAT (v001 AMD HAMMER 0x00000001 AMD 0x00000001) @ 0x000000003fff94c0 Jul 18 15:29:10 server3 ACPI: MCFG (v001 Nvidia AWRDACPI 0x42302e31 AWRD 0x00000000) @ 0x000000003fff95c0 Jul 18 15:29:10 server3 ACPI: MADT (v001 Nvidia AWRDACPI 0x42302e31 AWRD 0x00000000) @ 0x000000003fff9400 Jul 18 15:29:10 server3 ACPI: DSDT (v001 NVIDIA AWRDACPI 0x00001000 MSFT 0x0100000e) @ 0x0000000000000000 Jul 18 15:29:10 server3 On node 0 totalpages: 262128 Jul 18 15:29:10 server3 DMA zone: 4096 pages, LIFO batch:1 Jul 18 15:29:10 server3 Normal zone: 258032 pages, LIFO batch:31 Jul 18 15:29:10 server3 HighMem zone: 0 pages, LIFO batch:1 Jul 18 15:29:10 server3 Nvidia board detected. This is and upstream problem - see http://bugzilla.kernel.org/show_bug.cgi?id=3927. Try passing no_timer_check option to kernel at boot time.
Sigh, wrong bug #.
