On a new install of "Gentoo on OS X" on OS X 10.4.2, emerge reports that portage doesn't own about half the files in /usr/lib/portage/pym/ The packages it says it doesn't own seem to be the ones owned by root, the other's being owned by the user which ran the OS X install app. Two dependencies were installed before portage; they are listed here: [ebuild N ] dev-python/python-fchksum-1.7.1 26 kB [ebuild N ] sys-apps/debianutils-2.13.1-r1 -build (-static) 121 kB [ebuild U ] sys-apps/portage-2.0.51.22-r2 [2.0.51-r3] -build (-selinux) 251 kB Reproducible: Always Steps to Reproduce: 1.Download gentoo-macos-20041118.dmg and run it as a regular (admin) user 2.From a terminal, logged in as root: emerge sync; emerge -v portage 3. Actual Results: Collisions with files in /usr/lib/portage/pym Expected Results: Well, it should install, I suppose. * checking 141 files for package collisions #I'll list the actual collisions in a new attachment * This package is blocked because it wants to overwrite * files belonging to other packages (see messages above). * If you have no clue what this is all about report it * as a bug for this package on http://bugs.gentoo.org package sys-apps/portage-2.0.51.22-r2 NOT merged No package files given... Grabbing a set.
