Description Andrew Dorney 2005-09-19 06:49:21 UTC
I recently updated apache2 on my x86 box, to find that mod_php wouldn't load, or
even compile. I posted on the forums
(http://forums.gentoo.org/viewtopic-t-382547.html) to find that apparently this
new stable version of apache2 requires an unstable version of mod_php to even
LOAD the module, much less let mod_php compile against it. I'm emerging unstable
now... but that ebuild dependency still makes me wary.

mod_php 4.4.0 - would not load or even recompile
apache2 2.0.54-r31

Can you please enlighten me on the reasoning for this?

~~ Andrew D.

Reproducible: Always
Steps to Reproduce:
1. Update apache2 to 2.0.54-r31
2. Update config file from apache2 to httpd.conf
Actual Results:
Even with the proper lines in httpd.conf, mod_php will not load or even recompile.

Expected Results:
Stable software like apache2 and mod_php, used all over the place, should not
break each other when an update is performed. Stable apache2 should build
against a stable mod_php.
