I installed the GNOME 2.12 RC on a freshly installed Gentoo 2005.1/~x86 box. When I login to the freshly installed GNOME 2.12, the upper panel does not get fully initialized (it only shows the menu and no applets). Also the menu is not clickable/usable so I cannot even logout etc. Reproducible: Always Steps to Reproduce: 1. 2. 3. the behaviour i get is very similiar except that gnome-panel always reports an error message "The application gnome-panel has terminated unexpectantly" and also "I've detected a panel already running and will now exit" when i click restart on the gnome panel error, it dies again and then restarts and the error pops up again and under the inform developers button i get a backtrace like this.. i'm sure it's not very usable without debugging symbols, but might lend a clue Backtrace was generated from '/usr/bin/gnome-panel' (no debugging symbols found) Using host libthread_db library "/lib/tls/libthread_db.so.1".
