Why are RC versions of sys-kernel/vanilla-sources in portage tree as a testing if it is at kernel.org only as a develop version? Why it is not testing / hard masked? If I need last stable (at kernel.org stable) kernel (not RC) then I have no chance to get it, because if RC is in portage tree relased, then last stable (at kernel.org stable, in portage tree is it still testing) version is replacet with this RC (in portage tree is it testing). It will be better to set RC as a testing / hard masked or make special branch of kernel ebuild, someting as a vanilla-development-kernel. Reproducible: Always Steps to Reproduce: 1. 2. 3.
There is no valid reason to hardmask them. You can hardmask them yourself, like any other package. echo "=sys-kernel/vanilla-sources-2.6.13_rc*" >> /etc/portage/package.mask
echo "=sys-kernel/vanilla-sources-2.6.13_rc*" >> /etc/portage/package.mask echo "sys-kernel/vanilla-sources ~x86" >> /etc/portage/package.keywords OK, this works. Thank you. By the way, can you explain me why is vanilla-sources in portage tree set as stable if in kernel < 2.6.12.4 was found some bugs?
