compiled kernel, 2.6.11-hardened-r15, with <*> Intel(R) PRO/100+ support but the nic didn't start. Got a new driver from Intel, e100-3.4.14, that worked. Reproducible: Always Steps to Reproduce: 1. 2. 3.
And of course Intel doesn't provide a changelog with it's version of the driver so it's hard to say what was done to add support for your card. I'm assuming that this is an issue with the mainline and not the hardened tree, could you test with a vanilla kernel (preferably 2.6.12-rc5 or rc6) just to make sure.

Please reopen when you test with newer kernels
(In reply to comment #3) > Please reopen when you test with newer kernels I tried the included e100 driver with 2.6.12-rc6 gentoo-sourcesand and it worked with the integrated nic on my Dell so please include this driver with the hardened rc16. /Hans
