Description Martin Mokrejš 2005-07-24 08:44:24 UTC
Hi,
it seems there are two libraries for python interfacing the GD Boutell
library. The first one is at bug #100121. ;-)

I would like to have an ebuild also for gdmodule, available at
http://newcenturycomputers.net/projects/gdmodule.html. Currently teh file seems
not to be accessible because of file permissions or other webserver problem, but
hope this will be fixed soon. I've emailed the author about that problem already.

Reproducible: Always
Steps to Reproduce:

Simple ebuild

Here's a really simple ebuild for gdmodule.

gdmodule-0.56.ebuild

Updated and tested ebuild with corrected BSD-style license instead of PYTHON. Otherwise no changes except cosmetic reordering of lines. Please commit to the tree.

Perhaps, but I don't have time to do it. I'd have to download and install the other module and take time to study its internals.

I inherited the gdmodule from the original author, who gave up maintaining it after the appearance of the PIL (Python Imaging Library). It's behind the "state of the art" with respect to GD itself, but I do update it from time to time when other programmers submit updates; in fact, several contributors have made major enhancements to the program.

More current, probably.

You can do that with PIL as well as with gdmodule, but the procedure involves an extra module if you're using TTF fonts. I frankly don't know how it's done with PIL.
