I get this error on -r2, but it compiles fine with -r1:

checking what language compliance flags to pass to the C compiler...
./configure: line 20697: syntax error near unexpected token `echo'
./configure: line 20697: `echo "$as_me:$LINENO: checking whether ESounD support
is requested" >&5'

If i edit the configure script and comment out line 20694:
#PKG_PROG_PKG_CONFIG()
then it runs correctly.
