My X configuration
show please your kernel konfig file. i dont have this issue, all working well. and will try reinstall 'emerge nvidia-glx'. did you 'nvidia-opengl nvidia' ? i hale similar configuration with one diff. i use kernel-2.6.12. Created attachment 63585 [details]
kernel config
I did 'emerge unmerge nvidia-glx nvidia-kernel', 'emerge nvidia-glx' and opengl-update nvidia. Still not working. One note to the kernel config. It has disabled DRI support in the kernel, because I've read in one bug report, that this could cause problems with the binary nvidia driver. But it doesn't work with or without DRI support. Try to run strace and attach some 40 lines of the output. See http://www.gentoo.org/doc/en/bugzilla-howto.xml#doc_chap3 how to do that. Created attachment 63608 [details]
strace.log
This is the log of strace after running "strace -ostrace.log xinit"
