Description Ioannis Aslanidis (RETIRED) gentoo-dev 2005-07-16 03:39:26 UTC
There are 4 binary files that are located under the /usr/lib/ directory. This is quite strange and results into a confussion. Can anyone clarify the reasons?

The affected binaries are the following:

>>> /usr/lib/kdebluetooth/servers/kbemusedsrv
>>> /usr/lib/kdebluetooth/servers/kbtobexsrv
>>> /usr/lib/kdebluetooth/kbluepin
>>> /usr/lib/kdebluetooth/auth-helper

I'd say these files better fit under /usr/kdebluetooth/bin/

Comments?

There's a hint here: bug #82043 comment #1. motaboy should have more infos,
but unfortunately he is currently not active (we haven't seen him in a while).

I think you can ask directly to the other kdebluetooth developers:
http://docs.kde.org/development/en/extragear-pim/kdebluetooth/credits.html

I'm having a hard time understanding what exactly that linked bug comment says.
Does it say that he thinks lib is in fact the correct place for those files? Or
something else entirely?
Comment 3 Gregorio Guidi (RETIRED) gentoo-dev 2005-07-19 08:51:12 UTC
Yes, he says that /usr/lib/kdebluetooth/ was chosen by kdebluetooth developers
as the more appropriate path.

Sent upstream to KDE: http://bugs.kde.org/show_bug.cgi?id=109392

http://www.pathname.com/fhs/pub/fhs-2.3.pdf, Section 4.7 states that this is
the correct place for local binaries which are not intended to be executed by
users or scripts.

Nothing to see here, we're done.
