I changed the freudian in the summary from `beep-media-playback' to `beep-media-player'. Sorry about that ;) [ebuild R ] media-libs/libvorbis-1.1.0 +aotuv 1,372 kB [ebuild R ] media-libs/libogg-1.1.2 410 kB [ebuild R ] media-sound/beep-media-player-0.9.7-r6 +alsa -esd +gnome +mmx +mp3 +nls +oggvorbis -old-eq -oss 1,928 kB File result of my .ogg test files: Ogg data, Vorbis audio, stereo, 44100 Hz, ~160000 bps, created by: Xiph.Org libVorbis I (1.1.0 RC1) I don't see the issue here, so it may be amd64-specific. Could you check what the file result is on your .ogg's? What versions of libogg, libvorbis & beep-media-player? Are you using ALSA, OSS or an intermediate sound server? My emerge info, for good measure: Portage 2.0.51.22-r1 (default-linux/x86/2005.0, gcc-4.0.1, glibc-2.3.5-r0, 2.6.13-rc2-mm1 i686) ================================================================= System uname: 2.6.13-rc2-mm1 i686 AMD Athlon(tm) Gentoo Base System version 1.6.12 dev-lang/python: 2.3.5, 2.4.1-r1 sys-apps/sandbox: 1.2.10 sys-devel/autoconf: 2.13, 2.59-r7 sys-devel/automake: 1.4_p6, 1.5, 1.6.3, 1.7.9-r1, 1.8.5-r3, 1.9.5 sys-devel/binutils: 2.16.1 sys-devel/libtool: 1.5.18-r1 virtual/os-headers: 2.6.11-r2 ACCEPT_KEYWORDS="x86 ~x86" AUTOCLEAN="yes" CBUILD="i686-pc-linux-gnu" CFLAGS="-O2 -march=athlon-xp -mtune=athlon-xp -pipe -fomit-frame-pointer -ftree-vectorize" CHOST="i686-pc-linux-gnu" CONFIG_PROTECT="/etc /usr/kde/2/share/config /usr/kde/3/share/config /usr/lib/X11/xkb /usr/share/config /var/qmail/control" CONFIG_PROTECT_MASK="/etc/gconf /etc/terminfo /etc/texmf/web2c /etc/env.d" CXXFLAGS="-O2 -march=athlon-xp -mtune=athlon-xp -pipe -fomit-frame-pointer -ftree-vectorize" DISTDIR="/store/distfiles" FEATURES="autoaddcvs autoconfig cvs digest distlocks fixpackages sandbox sfperms sign" GENTOO_MIRRORS="ftp://ftp.heanet.ie/pub/gentoo/" PKGDIR="/usr/portage/packages" PORTAGE_TMPDIR="/var/tmp" PORTDIR="/cvs/gentoo-x86/" PORTDIR_OVERLAY="/usr/local/portage" SYNC="rsync://localhost/disabled" USE="x86 16bit 3dnow 3dnowex 3dnowext S3TC X X509 a52 aac aalib acpi aim alsa ao aotuv asm audiofile avi bash bash-completion beepmp berkdb bitmap-fonts bmp bonobo bzip2 bzlib cairo cdda cddb cdio cdparanoia cdr codecs crypt css cups curl dga djbfft dmx dpms dts dv dvd ecc edl eds elf encode erandom evo evo2 exif faad fame fb fbcon ffmpeg fftw flac flash font-server foomaticdb fortran fpx freetype ftp gb gcj gd gdbm gif glitz glut gnome gnomedb gnutls gphoto2 gstreamer gtk gtk2 gtkhtml hal howl icq imagemagick imap imlib imlib2 inifile ipv6 irc jabber java jbig jce jikes joystick jpeg kde kerberos krb4 ldap libcaca libg++ libsamplerate libwww live lm_sensors lzo lzw mad maildir matroska md5sum mikmod mjpeg mmap mmx mmxext mng monkey mono mozsvg mp3 mpeg mpeg4 mplayer msn native ncurses nls nptl nptlonly ntlm nvidia ode ogg oggvorbis openal opengl oscar pam pcre pdflib perl physfs pic png posix ppds python quicktime readline real rtc sblive sdl serial silc slang slp smime sndfile speex spell sqlite sse ssl stencil-buffer svg svgz symlink sysfs sysvipc szip tcltk tetex tga theora tiff timidity transcode truetype truetype-fonts type1-fonts unicode ups uptimed usb utf8 v4l v4l2 vcd vorbis wifi win32codecs wma123 wmf xanim xine xinerama xml xml2 xprint xscreensaver xv xvid xvmc yv12 zeroconf zlib zvbi userland_GNU kernel_linux elibc_glibc" Unset: ASFLAGS, CTARGET, LANG, LC_ALL, LDFLAGS, LINGUAS, MAKEOPTS Please provide the information asked for in comment #2.
