Description R. May 2005-07-07 13:49:15 UTC
Hello,

the Kernel gentoo-sources-2.6.12-r4 will not work with dvb (Kernel Drivers and CVS) Only Budget Card works fine...but not the FF Card.
On Start all works for about 3-5 Seconds and then the driver dvb-ttpci crashes. If I unload and reload it works again but on Shutdown the Kernel crash.

gensplash also crashes sometimes...on Start and on Shutdown I get a Kernel OOPS

I use a working config from 2.6.11-gentoo-r11 and this Kernel also works fine for me

Thanks for the report. There's not much we can do without additional
information, but if you can provide us with that then we can look into handling
the bug or forwarding it to the correct place.

Please post the "emerge info" output like the bug submission form asks you to.

Please be more specific about the dvb issues. Which cards are you using? You
could help us here by attaching the "lspci -vv" output so we can see for
ourselves. Which drivers are you using with these cards?

When you say "dvb-ttpci crashes", what exactly do you mean? Similarly, you need
to tell us what you mean by the kernel crash on shutdown. And are you saying
that you don't get this kernel crash if you don't reload the module during your
session?

Please keep one issue per bug report (i.e. open another bug report for fbsplash
issues, but only after you have re-merged splashutils-1.1.9.6-r1).
Comment 2 R. May 2005-07-09 14:20:16 UTC
Hello,

I found with the new splashutils not splashutils-1.1.9.6-r1 it works fine
(splash)

but DVB crash if it would load the driver before splash or nvidia? I don't
know.

What can I do?

If I start the dvb Driver again after the System starts everything works fine.
Should I start it via init Script and not via /etc/modules.aut.......

Now I have this Problem also with the old Kernel...

Please help!

Can I send any logfile via PM?

Comment 3 Daniel Drake (RETIRED) gentoo-dev 2005-07-09 14:40:53 UTC
I don't know anything about DVB. But someone else might be able to help if you
were to answer the questions I wrote in comment #1

You can use the attachment feature to attach logs and similar.

Hello,

again ;-)

I tried this boot witout gensplash but with Framebuffer all works fine...

I think it's gensplash...Is this right?

Regards R.
Comment 8 Daniel Drake (RETIRED) gentoo-dev 2005-07-10 02:38:26 UTC
How about if you try with framebuffer, and without splash?
Comment 9 R. May 2005-07-10 02:45:52 UTC
In comment 7 ;-) Everythink works fine.

Even if I start splash after boot from console...all works fine

Comment 10 R. May 2005-07-12 12:46:33 UTC
Should I make a new Bugreport for splashutils/splash? Because it seems to be a
Splash Problem.
