Description David Dewbre 2005-07-02 17:50:05 UTC
During a system update I tried to emerge qmail-1.03-rc15, emerge works fine
until after the terminal displays "* Setting up the message queue hierarchy ..."
and goes no further. A check or running processes shows that process for
"tcprules tcp.qmail-smtp.cdb tcp.qmail-smtp.tmp < tcp.qmail-smtp" which is owned
by "/bin/bash /usr/lib/portage/bin/ebuild.sh postinst" which is owned by "
/usr/bin/python -O /usr/bin/emerge qmail" is the problem. Unfortunatly I was
unable to monitor the install for several hours and only discovered the problem
after the tcprules process had been running for 7 hours and 9 minutes, and when
I found the problem that process had 84.4% of the CPU!

Reproducible: Always
Steps to Reproduce:
1. emerge qmail

Actual Results:
see details

Expected Results:
installed (at least I hope that is what it would have done)

CPU is AMD XP 2100
1/2 GB ram

Running processes:

apache2
mysql
webmin
sshd
courier-imap
spamassassin
freshclam
openldap
(and other system processes such as the logger and cron)

your tcp.qmail-smtp contains a syntax error somewhere.
