It's unlikely that the two problems described here are due to the ebuild or gentoo in general. For "arts support" see http://www.rosegardenmusic.com/resources/faq/#toc30 "In theory, Rosegarden can use aRts for audio, MIDI soft synths and outboard MIDI devices. In practice, this support is highly unlikely to work for you." For "no sound" see http://www.rosegardenmusic.com/resources/faq/#toc31 "You need a soft synth! See the next question." As you have timidity in your USE flags, you'll probably want to try this one. There's also an excellent tutorial at http://rosegarden.sourceforge.net/tutorial/ See Chapter 2 "Producing Sound" at http://rosegarden.sourceforge.net/tutorial/en/chapter-2.html#2 "Many users have written to ask why they are unable to get Rosegarden to make any noise. It is the most common question asked on the rosegarden-user mailing list by far, ..." I've loaded the soundfonts into my sb audigy and now midi works. However, arts USE flag should be disabled whatsoever. What's your opinion? Unfortunately we don't have enough maintainers, so this bug had to sit a while. Please test v.4.1.2.3 and file bugs as you encounter them. |
