Description Remus 2005-07-01 00:56:01 UTC
When emergins certain things the system will stall and I have to do a hard-reboot.

Ghostscript is mainly the cause although other emerges do the same such as
MPlayer. Mplayer stalls on something else though I do not know where off the
top of my head. Gnome stall on Ghostscript, along with Mplayer, and XFCE
stalling on something else

Reproducible: Always
Steps to Reproduce:
1.Emerge Gnome
2.Wait for a minute or two
3.Press reset button on the machine itself

Actual Results:
After performing the steps above I am forced to hard reboot the system with no
prevail in ever getting all of Gnome installed.

Expected Results:
Gnome should have been installed

I can provide any other information asked for, even the exact but by sshing into
this machine from another.
Comment 2 Jakub Moc (RETIRED) gentoo-dev 2005-07-01 02:48:51 UTC
Hmm, you should check your hardware, not much we could do about this I'm afraid.
See Bug 20600.

At what stage during the emerge does this happen?

Not really helpful anyway and pretty irrelevant, considering that your system
freezes while emerging various ebuilds.

Hardware problem, we cannot fix this.
