Status: RESOLVED INVALID

Description Matt Eaton 2005-06-30 17:31:15 UTC
With splashutils-1.1.9.6-r1

I get an empty progressbar with the emergence theme.
With the livecd theme, it just says "Initializing kernel"

Reproducible: Always
Steps to Reproduce:
1. emerge splashutils and splash-themes-gentoo
2. install emergence theme in grub.conf
3. reboot

Actual Results:
A nice looking splash screen, but shows an empty progressbar that does not
update (ever).

Expected Results:
Working progressbar.

Please paste your /proc/cmdline or the kernel command line options from grub.
Comment 2 Matt Eaton 2005-06-30 18:16:57 UTC
/proc/cmdline :
root=/dev/hda1 video=vesafb:ywrap,1280x1024-32@75
splash=silent,fadein,theme:emergence quiet CONSOLE=/dev/tty1

(I'm using vesafb-tng)

Also, I don't know if this is related, but looking back at the console after
starting up, I notice this in the startup messages:
/etc/init.d/splash: line 25: splash_setup: command not found

Comment 3 Michal Januszewski (RETIRED) gentoo-dev 2005-07-01 05:50:02 UTC
This is definitely related. Could you please try remerging splashutils? It looks
like /sbin/splash-funtions.sh is missing on your system.
Comment 4 Matt Eaton 2005-07-01 09:33:06 UTC
Re-emerging splashutils fixed it. I'm pretty sure splash-functions.sh wasn't
there the first time around. Works now though. Thanks!

Ok, closing the bug.
