The configure step of the program omnetpp (http://www.omnetpp.org/)  checks for
the program 'giftrans'.
I could not find giftrans in the ebuils.
But other linux distributions have it. (e.g.
http://packages.qa.debian.org/g/giftrans.html)

It would be great if Gentoo has it to.

No activity in one year. If you are still interested in this, attach an ebuild.
There are over 2000 bugs filed for new ebuilds, if you want something in
portage, at least attempt an ebuild.

ebuild for giftrans 1.12.2

Here's an ebuild for giftrans.  It's the first ebuild I've made, so the style may not be up to Gentoo's normal standards, especially hardcoding the path to rgb.txt.
