Bug 95797

Summary: Mozilla-Firefox doesn't display images from www.amazon.co.uk
Product: Gentoo Linux Reporter: Peter Humphrey <peter>
Component: Current packagesAssignee: Mozilla Gentoo Team <mozilla>
Status: RESOLVED INVALID
Severity: normal
Priority: High

Hardware: AMD64
OS: Linux

Runtime testing required: ---

Description Peter Humphrey 2005-06-11 12:01:26 UTC
The rest of the pages show up as expected, but no images; that means inter alia
that I can't click on any buttons unless I guess, scan and hover to find a
finger icon, right-click and select properties, then try to remember where I was
on the page before trying somewhere else. Much uncertainty.

Mozilla-firefox-bin behaves in just the same way, and both do the same whether
running under xfce or kde.

Uninstalled all extensions, then emerge -C mozilla-firefox, emerge
mozilla-firefox, then tried again with same result.

What's special about images at www.amazon.co.uk?

Does this error occur on www.amazon.co.uk only? Are you able to view these
images using the 'view image' option?

Please check your configuration, as it is not affected by re-emerging Firefox:
edit -> preferences -> web features -> exceptions (are you blocking
images.amazon.com or images-eu.amazon.com?)
Comment 2 Jory A. Pratt 2005-06-11 20:55:35 UTC
User configuration error ... page pulls all its images properly without a
problem ... please check your configuration to make sure you are allowing images
also make sure you do not have for the originating web site only checked .. this
is most likely your problem.
Comment 3 Peter Humphrey 2005-06-12 02:45:32 UTC
I did have "for the originating web site only" checked, and that was indeed my
problem. Sorry for having caused a waste of time - I'd allowed myself to be
misled as to the source of the images.
