Another important reason to update to the new version is that the temperature display doesn't work anymore when using latest driver with the old version of nvidia-settings ( at least for me ). A binary version of nvidia-settings is distributed with the NVIDIA driver, try: $ cd /tmp $ bash /usr/portage/distfiles/NVIDIA-Linux-x86-1.0-7664-pkg0.run --extract-only $ NVIDIA-Linux-x86-1.0-7664-pkg0/usr/bin/nvidia-settings I still don't have the 'CoolBits' property page though I'm in the same situation as comment #3. If i use the extracted binary no coolbits for me either (Xorg.conf summary of settings below). Does anyone know of a solution to using the binary and getting coolbits working or even better... does anyone know where the updated nvidia-settings source code is so i could attempt to knock up a proposed ebuild (i tried the offical Nvidia site but the source code seems way out of date) Section "Device" Identifier "GeforceCard" Driver "nvidia" Option "Coolbits" "1" EndSection I know that you can extract nvidia-settings from the pacakge but the point of this bug is to get it into portage. As for the coolbits part try filing another bug or looking on the forums(forums,gentoo.org or nvnews.net) I'm sorry for hijacking your bug. :) Try version bumping nvidia settings and download http://download.nvidia.com/XFree86/nvidia-settings/nvidia-settings-1.0.tar.gz, rename it to nvidia-settings-1.0.7664.tar.gz That seems to work, I even have overclocking now. Anyway can someone get this into portage now? Created attachment 61685 [details]
nvidia-settings-1.0.7664 fetching directly from nvidia
I modded the ebuild so i fetches nvidia-settings directly from nvidia. After
putting this into /usr/portage/media-video/nvidia-settings remember to run
ebuild /usr/portage/media-video/nvidia-settings/nvidia-settings-1.0.7664.ebuild
digest
Hopefully now this will get into portage.
For some reason the new version is in portage under the version number 1.0.20050525. Anyway just do an update and you'll have it. |
