$ ls -lh /var/mail/ -a
total 0
drwxrwxr-x  2 root mail 18 May  5 09:24 .
drwxr-xr-x  7 root root 74 Jun  4 05:27 ..
-rw-r--r--  1 root root  0 May  5 09:24 .keep

my exim conf is shown in URL given above.

When I switch /var/mail to rights 0777, then it works fine, and become afte delivery:

# ls -la mail/
total 4
drwxrwxrwx  2 root mail   28 Jun  4 12:44 .
drwxr-xr-x  7 root root   74 Jun  4 05:27 ..
-rw-------  1 dhp  users 729 Jun  4 12:43 dhp
-rw-r--r--  1 root root    0 May  5 09:24 .keep

after that, if I revert the directory to 0775 like it was before, it stops working again.

I dont know whether it is a problem due to stage3 2005.0, or to the install script of exim, or to the conf file.

I also thing that using 0777 is quiet a weak solution ...

if any body got a better fix ...

Exim is broken ;-) Current mailbase has a ewarn about /var/spool/mail permissions.
