Description Daniel Drake (RETIRED) gentoo-dev 2005-06-03 14:16:41 UTC
Upstream haven't released since september 2002

(Unmaintained) In-kernel OSS drivers are available on 2.4
2.4 users can use (maintained) alsa-driver from portage

(Maintained) In-kernel ALSA drivers are available on 2.6

Any objections to dropping this sometime soon?
Comment 1 Jan Brinkmann (RETIRED) gentoo-dev 2005-06-04 04:08:03 UTC
I also vote for removing it. I dont think that this would cause harm for
anybody. Are you going to take care of removing it?
Comment 2 Daniel Drake (RETIRED) gentoo-dev 2005-06-04 04:36:50 UTC
OK. We also need to check that no documentation suggests using it.
Comment 3 Sven Vermeulen (RETIRED) gentoo-dev 2005-06-04 05:51:01 UTC
All instances of the emu10k1 package have been removed from the documentation.
It was used in the Gentoo Handbook/x86 as an example (Installing Additional
Kernel Modules) and has been substituted with "ati-drivers".
Comment 4 Daniel Drake (RETIRED) gentoo-dev 2005-06-13 15:07:39 UTC
Added to package.mask. Will remove 10 days from now.
Comment 5 Daniel Drake (RETIRED) gentoo-dev 2005-06-13 16:44:56 UTC
media-sound/sbconf is also being masked/dropped. It is an emu10k1-specific
application for controlling the sound card.
