Bug 94743

Summary: dante example config file isn't adapted to gentoo completely
Product: Gentoo Linux Reporter: Clock <clock>
Component: [OLD] ServerAssignee: Gentoo Network Proxy Developers (OBSOLETE) <net-proxy+disabled>
Status: RESOLVED INVALID
Severity: normal

Description Clock 2005-06-01 08:25:16 UTC
/usr/share/doc/dante-1.1.15-r1/example/sockd.conf.gz reads:
"If you compiled with libwrap support, what userid should it use
# when executing your libwrap commands? \"libwrap\""

When the user installs on gentoo, he doesn't do any decision regarding libwrap,
therefore he cannot know answer to this question. I suggest this to be patched
by gentoo patch so it contains the information whether gentoo compiles it with
libwrap or not.

Reproducible: Always
Steps to Reproduce:
1.zless /usr/share/doc/dante-1.1.15-r1/example/sockd.conf.gz
2.
3.

Comment 1 Alin Năstac (RETIRED) gentoo-dev 2005-06-04 05:41:53 UTC
again, you are talking about a sample file found in /usr/share/doc.

what did you thought "tcpd" useflag stands for?
  mrness@alin mrness $ euse -i tcpd
  global use flags (searching: tcpd)
  ************************************************************
[+ D ] tcpd - Adds support for TCP wrappers

Comment 2 Clock 2005-06-05 07:15:44 UTC
Then I suggest a note that "libwrap relates to tcp wrappers USE flag" be added into suitable place into dante documentation in /usr/share/doc/dante-* You cannot expect user to read all avilable documentation about gentoo to find is libwrap isn't accidentally mentioned somewhere.
