This patch fixes it for me, anyone experiencing the issue can use it as a user patch until the bug is fixed.
Thanks for the user patch. Noting the same issue and patch in NixOS here: https://github.com/NixOS/nixpkgs/issues/348851 I think this only shows up with the "gui" use flag enabled, which might explain how it escaped into stable. Fixed in upstream https://gitlab.com/mbunkus/mkvtoolnix/-/commit/fc83003f541ac690fe308c3f4ac36e62814a40db #MeToo (In reply to Gary E.
