Description Hopeless 2005-05-30 05:16:45 UTC
When selecting the crossfade plugin in bmp, and selecting the alsa output plugin
from within crossfade, trying to play a file gives a "Couldn't open audio" error.
Occasionally messing around with all the options will get it working, but
starting with a new config always gives the same problem, and there seems to be
no pattern behind what fixes the problem after messing with the options.

After comparing a working ~/.bmp/config file to a none working one, the none
working one still had output_plugin=libOSS.so, whereas the working one has
output_plugin=libALSA.so.
Simply changing to the correct value fixes the problem completely, but it should
have been set when selecting the alsa output plugin from within crossfade.

Reproducible: Always
Steps to Reproduce:
1.Start beep-media-player with no ~/.bmp/config
2.Select crossfade as output plugin
3.Select Alsa output plugin from crossfade configure dialog

Actual Results:
Trying to play any audio file fails with a "Couldn't open audio" error dialog box

Expected Results:
Should have played the file

I'm not using dmix or any sound daemons, and I have no oss support (i.e. alsa
oss emulation) in the kernel.
