Version is now up to 0.9.4. Simply renaming the existing ebuild worked fine for
me (~amd64)

ebuild for pydev 0.9.8.3

ebuild that works for 0.9.8.3 version
Comment 6 Harm Geerts 2005-12-05 20:53:00 UTC
Note: At some point the license has changed to EPL
Other then that the 0.9.8.3 ebuild also works for the last release 0.9.8.5
Tested on ~amd64
Comment 7 Jim Smilanich 2005-12-15 21:17:00 UTC
This particular bug has been open since the 4th of July. So far, although there
have been plenty of ebuilds created for testing, there has been no movement to
place an updated ebuild out on the servers. This seems to be true even though
there hasn't been a single documented problem with any of the interim ebuilds.

I'm using pydev with ~x86 and I'm still seeing only 0.8.0. Anyone know when/if
we are going to see a more up to date version released for those of us who
prefer to test the "testing" version of ebuilds?

TIA

As said elsewhere, there is little benefit for users to install binary Eclipse
plugins using Portage compared to the Eclipse built-in Update Manager.

Given our headaches with getting proper 1.5 working for building all of the
Gentoo packages, we have had and continue to have a feature freeze on all
non-essential packages.

You may sue us for not stating that more clearly, however.
Comment 9 Jim Smilanich 2005-12-16 12:49:43 UTC
Thanks for the update. I was not aware of the problems surrounding 1.5.
Comment 10 Thomas Raschbacher gentoo-dev 2007-03-09 06:25:12 UTC
question: will there ever (without being sarcastic) be updated eclipse plugins in portage or shall everyone just use the update manager? - in which case it might be best to remove thereally old versions from portage anyway ? - especially since pydev is on version 1.2.9 by now ;)

Yes package.masked so please use the update manager. Please open a new bug if you can make an ebuild from source.
