Eix man page includes a very helpful guide where a hypothetical local repository is assumed to be hosted at /usr/local/portage. However, /usr/local/portage has been deprecated in favour of /var/db/repos (as referenced in man portage).

I propose to change all such obsolete references to, for example, /var/db/repos/local. Moreover, an explanation (or, even better, a reference to proper documentation) of how to add /etc/portage/repos.conf/local.conf would be a helpful addition.
