try a revdep-rebuild and report back with results.
Comment 2 Michael Labhard 2005-05-21 13:43:01 UTC
This is the first time I have used revdep-rebuild so I may have done so
incorrectly. But here is the result:

goliath root # revdep-rebuild media-libs/gdk-pixbuf -pbD

Checking reverse dependencies...
Packages containing binaries and libraries broken by any package update,
will be recompiled.

Collecting system binaries and libraries... using
existing /root/.revdep-rebuild.1_files.

Collecting complete LD_LIBRARY_PATH... using
existing /root/.revdep-rebuild.2_ldpath.

Checking dynamic linking consistency... using
existing /root/.revdep-rebuild.3_rebuild.

Assigning files to ebuilds... done.
  (/root/.revdep-rebuild.4_ebuilds)

Evaluating package order... using existing /root/.revdep-rebuild.5_order.

All prepared. Starting rebuild...
emerge --oneshot --nodeps media-libs/gdk-pixbuf -pbD
=app-crypt/cryptplug-0.3.16-r1 =app-office/openoffice-bin-1.1.3
=dev-java/sun-jdk-1.5.0.01
..........

These are the packages that I would merge, in order:

Calculating dependencies \
emerge: there are no ebuilds to satisfy "=app-office/openoffice-bin-1.1.3".

Result is not OK, you have following choices:
- if emerge failed during build, fix the problems and re-run revdep-rebuild
    or
- use -X or --package-names as first argument (try to rebuild package, not
exact
  ebuild - ignores SLOT!)
    or
- set ACCEPT_KEYWORDS="~<your platform>" and/or /etc/portage/package.unmask
(and remove /root/.revdep-rebuild.5_order to be evaluated again)
    or
- modify the above emerge command and run it manually
    or
- compile or unmerge unsatisfied packages manually, remove temporary files and
try again (you can edit package/ebuild list first)

To remove temporary files, please run:
rm /root/.revdep-rebuild*.?_*

Comment 3 John N. Laliberte (RETIRED) gentoo-dev 2005-05-21 13:48:30 UTC
if you re-emerge openjade, does this fix the problem?
Comment 4 Michael Labhard 2005-05-21 14:52:01 UTC
Yes, re-emerging openjade fixed the problem.
Comment 5 John N. Laliberte (RETIRED) gentoo-dev 2005-05-21 18:42:44 UTC
great, thanks for the quick responses
