wrapper-3.1.2.ebuild

This package would require a new license. It is in ${S}/doc/license.txt.

Now available in the experimental overlay:
https://gentooexperimental.org/svn/java/gentoo-java-experimental/dev-java/wrapper/
Comment 3 Josh Nichols (RETIRED) gentoo-dev 2005-08-11 19:50:01 UTC
Now maintained in the experimental overlay.
Comment 4 Thomas Sachau gentoo-dev 2008-02-23 17:57:04 UTC
1. overlay does not exist any more
2. version is outdated, 3.2.3 wont build for me
3. i have created an ebuild, which uses a svn tarball and want to place it in sunrise overlay

Would be nice, if someone changes the assignee (or adds it to portage tree)

java-service-wrapper is available in java-experimental overlay (https://overlays.gentoo.org/svn/proj/java/java-experimental/)

it is still that 3.1.2 version.

Java ebuilds don't really belong in sunrise, they belong in either the java-experimetnal or java-overlay's.

We will not accept svn ebuilds into these overlays.

As a basic reveiw of the ebuild

1) inherit java-pkg-2 java-ant-2
2) Please use eant instead of ant
3) use dohtml instead of java-pkg_dohtml
4) replace newlib with java-pkg_doso
5) without knowing exactly what dobin is installing, please see if using java-pkg_dolauncher is possible.

All this and more can be found at
http://www.gentoo.org/proj/en/java/java-devel.xml

Visit irc://freenode.net/#gentoo-java or the java ml for help etc.
The java-experimental overlay probably has a ebuild that has been update to reflect these changes. You might want to check it out :)
Comment 7 Thomas Sachau gentoo-dev 2008-02-23 23:26:06 UTC
ok, in short my summary:

-this ebuild is not in that mentioned overlay
-this bug is dead since 2005, so no maintainence of that ebuild
-i have an ebuild in sunrise (freenet), that contains some precompiled parts, which i want to put in extra ebuilds, therefor i want to put this in sunrise, dependencies in other overlays is bad
-as you wont accept svn ebuilds (including tarballs?) and latest stable version from 2006 does not compile for me, this has no chance to go into any java overlay

some comments on your points:

1.) and 2.): Do they help me in any way? Using eant will do changes to the source, so it does not compile any more and i dont want do to any more work, if my actual version works without problems (its not the only packages i create and work on)
3.): dont use it
4.): sure? any reason for this? its a binary generated from c code
5.): newbin installs a binary, generated from c code, so dolauncher is not the right function for it

Closing In Cvs.

dev-java/java-service-wrapper

Thank you nichoj, caster, betegueuse & Tommy[D].

My appologies to nichoj, believe I missed you out of the Changelog acknowledgement, ebuild must have been created back in gentooexperimental times and you weren't in svn logs.
