solution: change the following line
KERNEL="pilot",         NAME="%k", GROUP="uucp"
into:
KERNEL="pilot",         NAME="%k", GROUP="uucp", MODE="0660"

Steps to Reproduce:
1.try to syncronize your palm with a 'normal' user (not root)

Actual Results:  
no syncronization, because permissions were wrong

Expected Results:  
syncronize offcourse
