Bug 92647

Summary: wrong mysql grants for www-apps/bugzilla-2.18.1
Product: Gentoo Linux Reporter: Daniel Mettler <mettlerd>
Component: [OLD] ServerAssignee: Gentoo Web Application Packages Maintainers <web-apps>
Status: RESOLVED DUPLICATE

Description Daniel Mettler 2005-05-14 16:22:11 UTC
the mysql grants in files/2.18.0_rc4/reconfig are correct for mysql 3, but wrong for mysql 4. mysql 4 requires the following additional permissions:

LOCK TABLES, CREATE TEMPORARY TABLES

according to http://www.bugzilla.org/docs/2.18/html/configuration.html, section 2.2.2.4

if these permissions are lacking, ./checksetup.pl fails for systems using mysql 4, resulting in a not working bugzilla installation:

DBD::mysql::db do failed: Access denied for user: 'bugs@localhost' to database 'bugs' at Bugzilla/Series.pm line 173
        Bugzilla::Series::writeToDatabase('Bugzilla::Series=HASH(myhash)') called at ./checksetup.pl line 3976

(thx to wicked from #mozwebtools for the hint)

The following webapp-config 'reconfig' scripts need updating to reflect this:
files/2.18.0_rc1/reconfig
files/2.18.0_rc2/reconfig
files/2.18.0_rc3/reconfig
files/2.18.0_rc4/reconfig

Dunno what's best - work with both 3.x and 4.x (by checking the installed version of mysql in the scripts, or just depend on >=mysql-4 (as kloeri noted on irc, it has been stable for 6 months). Thoughts ?

fyi: i just verified that with these fixes, bugzilla installs nicely :)
(on my mysql 4 box)

I don

I don´t actually care if this depends on 4.x only but the bug has been there for almost two years, so it´s about time to fix this one...

I´d just like to note that I never had a problem with missing CREATE TEMPORARY TABLES though, but maybe that´s just b/c I don´t use the features that require this.
