Hello, I have attached an ebuild for the Dell Inspiron and Latitude i8kutils utilities, which can be used in combination with the kernel drivers to monitor cpu temperature, control fan status, assign functions to the special buttons and volume control... Unfortunately I did not search Gentoo Bugzilla until now, so I didn't notice that there has already an alternative ebuild been submitted. (Bug# 4628) So I am providing this FYI and since it seems to be a bit newer and also an alternative way of handling some things...
