Description Viliam 2024-01-03 14:02:39 UTC
In Mate desktop environment on the bottom panel the thumbnails/previews of running windows do not refresh. It seems that these thumbnails are generated just once and are not refreshed later. It would be useful to see the thumbnails refreshed, as they provide quick insight into what happens in that particular window, esp if there are many windows open.

The computer has stable amd64 Gentoo Linux OS with Mate and with testing ~amd64 mate-base/mate-panel-1.26.4. Previously there was also stable amd64 mate-base/mate-panel-1.26.3 with the same result. I can also confirm that this bug wasn't present in Mate 1.24, it has appeared in Mate 1.26.

For your info I have reported the same bug also on Debian.

I can provide more info if necessary.

Thanks,
Viliam

I can't confirm this behavior. I am using mate-panel 1.26.3 on gentoo and the previews do refresh.

Demonstration of the bug

On the screenshot there can be seen that Firefox window shows a Gentoo Wiki page, but the small thumbnail on the bottom panel shows a bug page. The thumbnail just hasn't refreshed.
