interesting. Rebuild Pango (the Xft engine changed between X 4.2.0 and 4.2.1 ) That should fix the problems you are having. I unmerged and remerged Pango. I noticed that emerge fetched pango 1.0.5. it did install but now I get following: aborting... ** ERROR **: Failed to match any font. This could be due to a broken Xft configuration, or if you run XFree 4.1.0 due to a bug in libXrender. For more information about this, read http://bugzilla.gnome.org/show_bug.cgi?id=68030 aborting... /usr/libexec/gnome_segv: error while loading shared libraries: libgnomecanvas-2.so.0: cannot open shared object file: Error 23 Well, i don't think this is a pango problem, but you might try and go back to 1.0.4 . My guess is that it's fontconfig that is faulty. Try and run 'fc-cache' see what it returns. I won't downgrade to pango 1.0.4 as I also don't think it's a pango issue. fc-cache doesn't return me anything. And fc-list does return a list of fonts ? it doesn't. but now I unmerged and remerged freetype and fontconfig and it works! If fc-list didnt return any fonts, gnome2 doesnt have any fonts to use.. effectivly making it disfunctional. I'm sure now it does list fonts. |
