It appears that changing the sync-uri in a portage for a git repo does not have any effect. This is because portage uses the URI of the configured remote by default and does not check if it's still the configured one after the repo was initially cloned.

When implementing any fix for this, we need to take into account the volatile property and only modify volatile=no repos.
