When trying to emerge beep-media-player-0.9.7-r4, the followig error occurs:

I attempted to run ebuild digest on the ebuild, but that didn't seem to work.

Apparently, I had a broken ebuild lying around in my portage overlay which was causing this problem. Deleting it fixed the problem. My apologies.
