While troubleshooting https://github.com/systemd/systemd/issues/28635 I enabled asan as per https://wiki.gentoo.org/wiki/AddressSanitizer

After troubleshooting with asan, when attempting to rebuild a known-good version of sys-apps/systemd _without_ asan the package failed to build a target seemingly due to the absence of asan.

I will attempt to come up with a sane reproducer for this behaviour and update the bug.
