on each kernel upgrade, I have to rebuild app-emulation/virtualbox-modules after booting on the new kernel, it could be great to have this package rebuilt on kernel upgrade.

Are you using a distribution kernel (gentoo-kernel or vanilla-kernel)? And if so, do you have USE=dist-kernel on?
