eix is an external project, not part of Gentoo base system, so ask eix developers to change their script name. PS. it used to be 'eix -u' ;) This is GLEP 24. Seriously people, it's not rocket science. just come up with hard naming conventions. Yes, you can't force the eix people to change or whatever, but at least you'll have a standard they chould follow if they so desired. May sound silly .. I choose the name "update-eix" because I wanted "ei<tab>" to complete to "eix " rather than "eix". I preferred 'eix -u' instead of 'update-eix'. Having two separate binaries for two not trivial tasks is imho cleaner and increases maintainability. Refer to the glep that ciaran mentioned. |
