I have the same problem!!! Only wav files are played very fast with this output plugins: esound 1.2.10 oss driver 1.2.10 Whit "alsa 1.2.10" output plugin wav files are not played at all!!!! MP3s are played fine with all the previous plugins. emerge --info: Portage 2.0.51.22-r2 (default-linux/x86/2005.0, gcc-3.3.5-20050130, glibc- 2.3.5-r0, 2.6.12-gentoo-r6 i586) ================================================================= System uname: 2.6.12-gentoo-r6 i586 AMD-K6(tm)-III Processor Gentoo Base System version 1.6.13 dev-lang/python: 2.3.5 sys-apps/sandbox: 1.2.11 sys-devel/autoconf: 2.13, 2.59-r6 sys-devel/automake: 1.4_p6, 1.5, 1.6.3, 1.7.9-r1, 1.8.5-r3, 1.9.5 sys-devel/binutils: 2.15.92.0.2-r10 sys-devel/libtool: 1.5.18-r1 virtual/os-headers: 2.6.11-r2 ACCEPT_KEYWORDS="x86" AUTOCLEAN="yes" CBUILD="i586-pc-linux-gnu" CFLAGS="-O2 -march=k6-3 -fomit-frame-pointer -pipe" CHOST="i586-pc-linux-gnu" CONFIG_PROTECT="/etc /usr/kde/2/share/config /usr/kde/3/share/config /usr/lib/X 11/xkb /usr/share/config /var/qmail/control" CONFIG_PROTECT_MASK="/etc/gconf /etc/terminfo /etc/env.d" CXXFLAGS="-O2 -march=k6-3 -fomit-frame-pointer -pipe" DISTDIR="/usr/portage/distfiles" FEATURES="autoconfig distlocks sandbox sfperms strict" GENTOO_MIRRORS="http://mirror.switch.ch/ftp/mirror/gentoo/" LANG="en_US" LC_ALL="en_US" MAKEOPTS="-j2" PKGDIR="/usr/portage/packages" PORTAGE_TMPDIR="/var/tmp" PORTDIR="/usr/portage" SYNC="rsync://rsync.gentoo.org/gentoo-portage" USE="x86 3dnow 3dnowext X a52 aac aalib alsa apm audiofile avi bash-completion berkdb bitmap-fonts bzlib cdparanoia crypt cups curl directfb divx4linux dvb dvd dvdread edl eds emboss encode esd f77 fbcon ffmpeg fftw flac font-server foomaticdb fortran ftp gd gdbm ggi gif glut gpm gstreamer gtk gtk2 imlib ipv6 jack jpeg libcaca libg++ libwww lirc live lzo mad mikmod mmx motif mp3 mpeg mythtv nas ncurses network nls nptl nvidia ogg oggvorbis openal opengl oss pam pdflib perl png python qt quicktime readline real rtc samba sdl slang sndfile sox spell ssl svg svga tcltk tcpd tetex tga theora tiff truetype truetype- fonts type1-fonts v4l v4l2 vorbis xml2 xmms xv xvid zlib video_cards_nvidia userland_GNU kernel_linux elibc_glibc" Unset: ASFLAGS, CTARGET, LDFLAGS, LINGUAS, PORTDIR_OVERLAY I forgot to say this: It seems that the mixer controls doesn't work with any .wav or .mp3 files too. This happens with early versions of xmms ? (in reply to comment #3) This happens with the latest xmms in portage: media-sound/xmms-1.2.10-r15 -3dnow +alsa +arts -directfb +esd +flac -jack +lirc +mad +mikmod +mmx +mp3 +nls +oss +sndfile +vorbis media-plugins/xmms-sndfile-1.2 As xmms-1.2.10-r14 is the only previous version available in the portage tree, I can't tell if this happens with older versions as well. I just compiled xmms with sndfile on another machine as well, one that is running stable x86. Same result. I just emerged xmms-wav. Only after disabling the sndfile plugin could I play a wav file. So this again confirms that this is indeed a xmms-sndfile bug. I'll try to add a patch to fix this issue. no time to build a patch for it now. If someone want's to patch it please do it until then i will close this. |
